The Falls of Measach are located by a steep-sided chasm called Corrieshalloch gorge. This gorge was not formed by the river currently running through it. It is thought to have been cut in the Ice Age by a strong river flowing beneath a glacier. It is around 1.5km (9,3 mi) long and reaches 60m (200ft) in depth.
